There were lots of factories and warehouses on the east side of the Quayside in the 1980s, and there was mostly heavy industrial sector work, and a little fishing. There are now mostly hotels, restaurants and bars. They have changed to attract people to make the area richer. This shows how lifestyles have changed because people now are free to travel and relax.
This is a photo of the ‘Malmaison’ hotel. This shows how the Quayside has changed because it used to be used for industrial work, but it is now a tourist attraction with hotels, bars and other leisure facilities. The ‘Malmaison’ was created in the building that was previously Co-Op headquarters.
